Carla was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley and fled east to New York where she stumbled into the performance collaborative, Peeling where she wrote and performed autobiographically-based performance art with them for several years in basement bookstores and galleries around the city. In ensuing years, her plays were workshopped and produced nationally at the Lark Playwright’s Workshop, The O’Neill Playwrights Conference, South Coast Rep, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Center Theater Group and Ma-Yi Theatre Company among others. She was also Artistic Director of Asian American Theatre company 2g for three seasons and is a proud member of The Kilroys and New Dramatists. Carla wrote for season two of Graceland and was on the Tracking Board’s 2014 Young and Hungry List. She’s come back home and now resides in Hollywood, CA.
