DAVE HARRIS - WRITER
BIO
Dave Harris is a poet and playwright from West Philly. His plays have been featured at Victory Gardens Ignition Festival, Theater503 in London, Great Plains Theater Conference, The Kennedy Center, Lesser America, SPACE on Ryder Farm, UMASS Amherst, and Fault Line Theater Company. He is a member of The Working Farm at SPACE, a two-time finalist for the O’Neill Theater Conference, and a semi-finalist for The Relentless Award.
His poetry and essays have been featured at Huffington Post, Upworthy, Button Poetry, Up the Staircase Quarterly (nominated “Best of the Net”), BOAAT, Rattle (Longlist for Rattle Poetry Prize), Winter Tangerine, and The Adroit Journal, amongst others. Dave has competed and performed spoken word across the country, and is the 2015 Rustbelt Poetry Slam champion, the 2017 Pittsburgh Grand Slam Champion, 2014 Denver 40 Oz. Slam champion.
He has received commissions and awards from Ensemble Studio Theatre, Cave Canem, Callaloo, Yale University, UC San Diego, The Kennedy Center, and New Haven Arts and Humanities Co-Op High School.
Dave graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Theater Studies and is a second year MFA student in Playwriting at UC San Diego.
