Michael Rohrbaugh - Writer/Director

BIO

Michael Rohrbaugh is a queer writer / director / producer drawn to stories exposing the underbelly of modern life. Over the years, he has created pro-social campaigns addressing gun reform and queer rights. A few years ago, MTV Networks selected Rohrbaugh to write, direct, and produce AMERICAN MALE, a short film that explores toxic masculinity. He also directed ALONE IN THE GAME, an Audience Network documentary exploring LGBT issues in the world of American sports. In 2018, he won an ‘Ad of the Year’ Webby Award for his Bonobos #EvolveTheDefinition campaign, which aired during the 2018 ESPY Awards and received over 10 million views.

Rohrbaugh enjoys working with young filmmakers, and has led workshops on behalf of Y-Fi Africa, a Kenyan based non-profit inspiring the next generation of African filmmakers. His work has been featured on NPR, Indiewire, Vimeo Staff Picks, NYMag, Forbes Magazine, Luerzer’s Archive, and The Advocate. He received his Bachelors in Arts from Yale University and his Masters in Fine Arts from The UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. He is repped for writing and directing by Heroes & Villains and William Morris Endeavor.
