BIO

Mirella is an award-winning writer. She was awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Prize for her television pilot “Seven Eternities,” and invited to the Film Independent Episodic Labs as a fellow, supported by Netflix and the Sloan Foundation. Her feature screenplay made the “It List” of the best unproduced scripts at the Canadian Film Festival. Mirella has written, directed and produced films, most recently the short “Lady Electric,” a character-driven drama. Mirella enjoyed two and a half years in New York City where she completed her MFA at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, focusing on playwriting, television and film writing. She has worked for producers in television and off-broadway theatre in NY and LA. She hails from Toronto, where she had a previous life as a journalist and television news producer. Her writing has been published in international newswires, newspaper and magazines.
