NIC COHEN - WRITER
BIO
Nic’s wildy-varied life experiences– from visiting detainees in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for human rights work to teaching NIH neuroscientists how to ballroom dance– inform her unique perspective on gender, access, and disrupting power. A mother of three who writes erotic thrillers and dark psychological suspense, Nic seeks to challenge the default lens of storytelling by centralizing real, relatable women across genres in high concept sci-fi, thrillers, dramas, and romance screenplays and fiction.
Her first feature script ARTEMIS ONE was the Runner-up winner in Screencraft’s Sci-Fi Contest and an AFF Semi-finalist in 2018, and is currently under shopping agreement. Her dark-50 First Dates psychological drama exploring the nature of memory and identity– ALWAYS WE BEGIN AGAIN– was a 2020 Screencraft Semifinalist in both the Drama and Horror contests and is also in development. Her World War II domestic romance short story “Be Yours to Hold” was called “the HOTTEST out of thousands of scripts” (emphasis reader’s) as a Screencraft Semifinalist in 2019.
Nic was named a Semi-finalist for the 2021 The Writer’s Lab. She’s currently working on The Means, a political thriller limited-series pilot, as well as a woman-led Western crime drama and a romantic adventure in the vein of Romancing the Stone.
